His and Hers was established in 1970 by Alec and Rita Woods. Alec was the Master Barber on the men's side and Rita is the cosmetologist on the women's side. Alec was the first Black barber in Paris, Tx and Rita was the third black hair stylist. From there they sought to create a robust business with having clients come to them within a 100 mile radius.
Rita is well known for growing hair with most of her clients having at least 14 inches of length in hair. Clients deemed her the hair growth Queen.
His and Hers went on to continue to employ other family members to continue the legacy of the business and reputation. Natalie "Woods" Brown joined the salon with her mother along with Jackie "Byrd" Woods. Those two ladies became well known as the hair dye queens due to all the beautiful highlights and low lights they performed.
Alec went on to employ his nephew Corey Lyn McCuin son of Jean "Woods" McCuin as a barber. Corey was one of the best barbers and became very well known for his hair cut designs.
In 2017 Alec retired once his grandson Adriel Woods finished barber and stayed long enough for him to be a understudy by the best barber in Paris, Tx
Adriel is the third generation within the family.
In 2020 Charda the daugther of Natalie "Woods" granddaughter of Alec & Rita took over the business and expanded the dreams that Alec & Rita began. The salon now offers a vast amount of products including cosmetics.
